Critique
The Hunger Games was a very exciting, plot twisting novel. Suzanne Collins did a good job of keeping suspense in this book, as the next was always around the corner. This book has a good mix of humor and seriousness that make the emotions feel real. The one thing I would change about this book is add more backstory, specifically more on how Panem came to be. Overall I liked this novel, and I would highly recommend it.
Quotes to Remember
"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor."- Effie Trinket- This quote shows how powerless the people are in the districts. Effie knows that the people in the districts don't like the games.
"Here's some advice. Stay alive.” - Haymitch- This is the advice Haymitch gives Katniss and Peeta
"Stop! Stop! Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark! I give you - the tributes of District 12!” - This is how the game ends. There is only supposed to br one victor, but the two are winners because there would be major backlash.

I would not be able to pack if I were to be in the Hunger Games, but if I could there are a few things I would bring. I would bring a backpack, water bottle, dehydrated food, rope, a knife, a blanket, and a machete. These would be very helpful in the Hunger Games, as they can only be obtained at the beginning or through sponsors.

If the setting in the arena of this story was during the winter instead of the summer, the games would have been played very differently. Instead of Katniss desperately trying to find water she would be tying to find warmth. Peeta would also have a harder time with camouflage if there was snow on the ground, as everything would be white. Everything would be harder if the setting of this story was in winter. The final tributes would probably be completely different as this change in weather would change everything.
